How is the Energy Square 2.4 different from the original Energy Square?

The 2.4 is thinner, lighter and more durable. It also adds a Deep Red LED to the original Red, Yellow and Near-Infrared lineup, giving four wavelengths in one panel rather than three.

How long should each session be?

TrueDark recommends 10 to 20 minutes per treatment area, 2 to 3 times per week. Hold the panel 6 to 8 inches from bare skin. Longer sessions are not better, there is a dose-response relationship and more is not always more.

Will it work on UK mains power?

Yes. The device accepts 85V-265V so it works on UK and EU power, but you may need a plug adapter for the UK socket as the cord is supplied with a US-style plug.

The TrueDark Truelight Energy Square 2.4 is the at-home LED light therapy device that took the original Energy Square and made it thinner, lighter and more durable. Designed by TrueDark, the light-management brand co-founded by Dave Asprey, the Energy Square 2.4 delivers four LED wavelengths in a single, slim 30 x 30cm panel that you can use on the face, shoulder, knee, lower back or anywhere else specific support is wanted.

LED light therapy uses specific wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light. Different wavelengths penetrate the skin to different depths. The Energy Square 2.4 is the only TrueLight panel of its size to combine four LED types in one unit:

- Red light, traditionally used in cosmetic and skin contexts

- Deep Red light, a slightly longer wavelength

- Yellow light, often used in skincare contexts for surface preparation

- Near-Infrared (NIR), the longest wavelength in the device

Two lighting modes (steady and pulsating) let you tailor sessions further. The manufacturer's recommended protocol is 10 to 20 minute sessions, two to three times per week, with the panel held 6 to 8 inches from bare skin. As with any light therapy device, consistency over weeks and months is what produces noticeable results; sporadic use is unlikely to deliver meaningful benefit.
